Troubleshooting & FAQ
Short answers to the questions that come up most. If a case behaves unexpectedly and the answer isn’t here, the case journal in the console is the best place to see what the Investigator actually did.
The Investigator doesn’t respond in a private channel
The Investigator joins public channels on its own, but Slack doesn’t let apps join private channels. Invite it once:
/invite @Microtica
After that, mentions and thread replies in that channel work like anywhere else. In public channels no invite is needed — it can post anywhere and auto-joins when summoned.
I mentioned @Microtica and it said the daily summon limit was reached
Each project can start 20 new investigations from Slack per day — a guard against runaway loops, not a billing meter. The cap resets at midnight UTC. It only applies to new summons: follow-up replies on existing cases are never capped, and you can always start investigations from the console.
An investigation seems stuck — how do I stop it?
Open the case in the console — while a run is active, the send button in the case’s composer becomes a Stop control. Stopping cancels the current run; the case remains and reports honestly that it was stopped before finishing. You can set it going again any time with Deepen on the Slack post or a new reply in its thread.
I mentioned @Microtica and it asked me to bind the channel first
Your project has more than one AWS or Kubernetes connection, and the channel isn’t bound to one of them — so the Investigator declines rather than guess which account you mean. Bind the channel to an account in the project’s Slack settings, then summon again. Channels in single-connection projects never need this.
Investigations are blocked and the console says “Out of credits”
Your organization’s credit balance is empty, so new runs won’t start. Buy a credit pack or upgrade your plan on the Billing page (owners and admins only). Included credits also refill automatically at the start of your next billing period. See Billing & credits.
I can’t invite a teammate
Two possibilities. If the invite form is disabled with Member limit reached, you’re at your plan’s seat cap — Free allows 2 members, Pro 5 — and pending invitations count toward it; upgrade or cancel a pending invitation. If you don’t see the invite form at all, your role is member: inviting requires owner or admin. See Members & roles.
Who can connect an integration?
Any member of the organization — connecting AWS, Kubernetes, Slack, and the other integrations from a project’s settings isn’t role-restricted. The only settings area gated to owners and admins is billing (and member management).
Where does a shared case link go, and who can open it?
Open the case’s Share dialog and switch to the Public share tab. Turning on Public access creates a read-only link (ending in /share) — anyone with the link can view the conversation, signed in or not, but can’t interact with it. Use Copy link to grab it, and turn Public access off to revoke the link at any time.
